Pau Aran
Pau Aran, born in Barcelona, was a permanent member of the Tanztheater Wuppertal – Pina Bausch for 15 years (2005–2020), after training as a dancer at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza in Madrid and the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.
Since 2020, he has worked, among others, as a dancer and choreographic assistant with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. He began creating his first independent choreographic works in 2013, including Lettre d’Amour, co-produced by the GREC Festival Barcelona (2020), and Un cadavre exquis II, co-produced by steptext dance project and the Festival Dansa Metropolitana, which premiered in Madrid in 2022. Recent commissions have taken him to Kaiserslautern, and in 2026 a new production will be created for the GREC Festival in Barcelona.
“I prefer the process over the result. I prefer silence over noise. I work for the dance of the future. My goal is to contribute my experience by having danced in a movement language as distinctive as that of Pina Bausch, and to use this as a starting point for further development. I believe in human relationships, meticulous work, and detail.”
