Tomas Bünger

Tomas Bünger studied classical and contemporary dance at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover and was a long-standing member of the Dance Theater Bremen under the direction of Susanne Linke and Urs Dietrich. He also collaborated with Reinhild Hoffmann, Rodolpho Leonie, Rami Be’er, Emanuel Gat, Tero Saarinen, and Ingun Bjørnsgaard.

He subsequently completed an integrative dance teacher training program at the Mark Morris Dance Center in New York, served as a guest lecturer at the University of the Arts in Buenos Aires, and has worked for several years—at the invitation of the Goethe-Institut Bangladesh—as a guest lecturer in Contemporary Dance and Choreography. In this capacity, he has taught at the National Theatre and the University of Dhaka, the Bistaar Arts Complex in Chittagong, the Ocean Dance Festival in Cox’s Bazar, and Nrittyashaily in Sylhet.

In 2019, he carried out an artist residency with dancer Kossi Sebastien Aholou-Wokawui at the Brin de Chocolat Dance Center in Lomé, Togo, and in 2021 another residency with dancer Andor Rusu at the Goethe-Institut Bucharest in Romania.

Tomas Bünger teaches and choreographs in both professional and non-professional contexts, including projects for the Theatre Bremen and tanzbar_bremen. He is a lecturer at HKS Ottersberg and was for many years a jury member of the Tanztreffen der Jugend (Youth Dance Meeting) of the Berliner Festspiele.
